Who We Are

Established in August 2005, the South Georgia Military Officers Association (SGAMOAA) is an independent, politically non-partisan, non-profit corporation affiliated with the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA).  Membership is open to all those who hold or have ever held a warrant or commission in any component of the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, Public Health Service or NOAA and their surviving spouses.

 

Our South Georgia Military Officers Association fosters and stimulates love of country and the flag; Supports fraternal relations between all branches of the various Services; defends the honor, integrity and supremacy of our national government and the Constitution of the United States; advocates military forces adequate to the defense of our country; aids active and retired personnel of the various Services; their dependents and survivors, in every proper and legitimate manner.

 

What We Do

Our service projects include: recognizing outstanding ROTC/JROTC cadets and midshipmen by presenting the National MOAA Medal; for the VSU ROTC graduating seniors the chapter provides them their first 2Lt Gold Bars; and we sponsor a military dependent to Boys and Girls State.

We meet the second Thursday, January to May and September to November, at 6:00pm at Mama June's Country Buffet in Valdosta, Georgia. Spouses are a valuable component of our chapter and are included in all of our activities.
